World Mental Health Day 2022

World Mental Health Day 2022

Today is World Mental Health Day. This year the theme is to Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority.

The core aim of our wee social enterprise is to break the cycle of poverty in Ghana by providing an opportunity for children to go to school instead of having to work dangerous jobs to support their families. We also help to support communities by helping to ensure adults have access to sustainable employment through their chilli farms; the chilli’s we use in all of our tasty sauces and spreads.

A consequence of living in poverty and having little hope for the future is significant mental health issues. Much of the mental health care system in rural Ghana where our farmers live and work is down to local churches or family members to provide. There have been many reported cases of individuals with poor mental health being chained to trees as adequate care simply isn’t available.

We’re not a mental health charity, but around all the work we do, and the work of our sister orgs, is to give hope and a purpose to disadvantaged groups. A little hope and a strong sense of purpose can go a long way to helping address adverse mental health conditions. We are able to continue to do this with the kind support of you, our customers.

Let’s stand together today and support World Mental Health Day and make a call for mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority!
